The Chorale’s seasons typically run from September through May of the following year, and features two Concerts in January and two in May. Each “semester” is kicked off with an Open Sing event to welcome new members and begin rehearsing for the upcoming Concert
While we planned to maintain this schedule for the 2021/2022 season, the pandemic has forced us to cancel our January 2021 concerts, and modify our rehearsal schedule.
The board has decided, in light of COVID infection rates and related concerns, to cancel our Jan 10th, 2022, rehearsal and to postpone the first rehearsal of our Second Semester (originally planed for Jan 24th, 2022). A planned Schedule for Rehearsals will be released immediately following our next Board meeting – currently scheduled for Jan 31st, 2022.
Open Sings are held at the beginning of each season, in September and January. Open Sings are not auditions; they are a chance for members – both returning singers and new voices – to see what we’re singing for the coming season and to meet your fellow singers. Attending an Open Sing does not mean you have to join the Chorale – though, of course, we hope you will! Curious about how we sound? Visit our YouTube channel.
In view of our change in schedule and plan to resume rehearsing the program originally planned for January 2022, we have tentatively decided to limit invitation to join for the second semester of this season to current and former members of the Chorale. Sign-ups for the Second Semester will be held at a date to be determined by the Board. At the time of sign ups we are now requiring that all members present their Vaccination cards (which must include a booster shot).
Rehearsals and Membership
The Chorale rehearses on Monday evenings. Sectionals are scheduled periodically throughout the season. To learn about what’s expected of Chorale members, review our Guidelines for Membership. Can’t read music? Not a problem. The Chorale provides rehearsal files to help you learn the pieces.
Once rehearsals resume, we will continue to implement CDC recommended COVID precautions. Among other measures, all members must be fully vaccinated, including boosters. If you are unable to be or choose not to be vaccinated for any reason we ask that you not join us in singing at this time. Rehearsals and Concerts will continue to require masking, and we will continue to socially distance as much as we are able, as well as allowing adequate breaks to circulate the air in our rehearsal and performance spaces.
Chorale dues for members who sang with us in the Fall will be reduced to $25. At your option you may continue to support the Chorale by making the full $50 normal dues fee.
Chorale dues for former members who are joining us in the spring, but did not sing in the fall, will be the normal $50.
As always, scholarships and hardship assistance with dues are available on request.
