Chorale News

 Message from our President

I’m Phil Paveglio and I’m the newly-elected president of the Suncook Valley Chorale. Welcome to our website!

We are a 70-voice, non-auditioned chorale which performs in January and May. We hold open sings each fall and winter for you to audition us, learn about our music, and experience our rehearsal style. We ask only that you be willing to learn the music and have a lot of fun in the process. Our motto is “Sing for Joy” and we do that very well!

Our members come from all over Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts to rehearse with us on Monday nights at Concord High School in Concord, New Hampshire. We range in age from 18 to 80 and we all love to sing! Our music director, Scott Lounsbury, and our pianist, Calvin Herst, make our rehearsals memorable and enjoyable.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our fall rehearsals and January concerts have been canceled. The Board will monitor New Hampshire’s progress in combating the coronavirus throughout the fall and will decide the future of our spring rehearsals and May concerts around the end of November. The health and safety of our members and audiences is our primary concern. Please check our Facebook page or the website for updates.

We all miss the opportunity to sing, harmonize between sections, and be with old and new friends on Monday nights. Let’s hope that we can resume singing with the Chorale this spring!

Stay safe and be well!

Phil Paveglio, President

Suncook Valley Chorale Cancels Fall Season

The Board of Directors of the Suncook Valley Chorale has announced the cancellation of the Fall 2020 season and the January 2021 concerts due to the COVID-19 virus. Board President Candie Garvin said in a statement to Chorale members: “This decision is not taken lightly, and is based on the highest priority of safety for our membership and our audiences. The Chorale’s motto is “”Sing for Joy!”” For now, we are compelled to sing at a distance from one another, but we are eagerly looking forward to the day when we can gather again in both safety and song. Until then we urge everyone to find ways to make song a habit in your daily routines.  Music, the 17th century playwright, William Congreve, tells us, “hath charms to soothe a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend the knotted oak.”  We promise to soothe, soften, and bend when safety allows.  Until then, please continue to “Sing for Joy!””
